For almost every product, in general you get what you pay for. Occasionally there are some good pellet guns that provide remarkable performance at a humble price. The Hatsan 95 Air Rifle Combo is one of those exceptions – this rifle delivers unbelievable performance and usability for a bargain price.
The Hatsan USA model 95 air rifle combo makes it appearance with a Turkish walnut stock and a golden colored metal trigger. This spring piston air rifle is available in three caliber sizes (.177, .22, and .25) with the attached scope that is a part of the combo.
My first impression of the Hatsan 95 pellet rifle when it is out of the box is the beautiful Turkish walnut stock and the golden-colored metal trigger. It is really a top good looking air rifle.
The walnut stock has a butt pad made of soft rubber material for shock absorption. The grip of the piston has checkered pattern on both sides. The shiny gold-colored trigger is protected by a black trigger guard. The fore end also has checkered pattern on both sides. Beneath the forestock is a slit acted as clearance for the break barrel cocking linkage. The mounting system includes dovetails, a metallic scope stop. The TruGlo® Fiber Optics includes micro-adjustable rear sight and front sight to make every shot more accurate. The gun features the Quattro Trigger which is an exclusive advanced two-stage match trigger. The scope is a non-adjustable 3-9x32mm one from the manufacturer.
This is really the best pellet gun for the money. The gun shoot with a velocity 800 FPS and it delivers a devastating power. Remember that Hatsan USA often tests the gun with lead pellet. This means their velocity reports make more sense than those of competitors who are using lighter alloy pellets. When shooting with this air rifle, the power plant produces some vibrating sound but it is hardly felt any actual vibration. Actually, the noise has already reduced by the Integrated Sound Moderator. According to Hatsan USA, the air rifle Model 95 is equipped with Shock Absorber System (SAS) which makes it a pleasant springer pellet gun to shoot. Also, an auto drop safety interlock device has been integrated make sure the gun is not firing if it is dropped.
However even the best air gun has it disadvantage as well. The Model 95 Combo truly does the job, but not without problems. It is appreciated that Hatsan USA include a scope and its mounts but they are not high graded products. The scope is not adjustable and focusable which makes accuracy testing pretty challenging. In some cases I find firing open sights using the included fiber optic is much more enjoyable.
It is recommended to mount a top air rifle scope such as a Vortex scope for better precise shooting. After that I was able to fire 1 1/5 inch shot group at 32 yards. It is an acceptable result for a spring piston air rifle at that range, which also means this pellet gun is great for pest control in the garden or small games, bird or squirrel hunting.
To sum up, the Hatsan model 95 air rifle is the best pellet gun in the cost-effective tier. The scope and mounts are not top quality but the rifle itself is truly a rough diamond that is good in both look and shooting performance. The precision of this Hatsan 95 pellet gun is good enough for plinking and pest control or hunting in modest ranges. So many exceptional features (already presented in this air rifle review) at a very reasonable price, you can’t go wrong on this deal!
